Type of wine
Vinhão Anselmo Mendes is obtained from the typical grape variety Vinhão, grown in Ponte da Barca on the Lima sub-region with granitic soils, deep and poor in organic matter. The vineyards are in halfhillside with a south-facing aspect and with a markedly Atlantic influence. The harvest takes place in October in order to ensure a total and perfect maturation of the grapes ensuring simultaneously its particular acidity. These features will increase the freshness and aromatic intensity of this variety.
Key points
Handpicked grapes into small boxes and carried to the winery in a short period of time. Total de-stemming. Skin maceration. Cold clarification for 48. Long fermentation at temperatures of 14-18ºC.
Tasting notes
Deep purple color. Black and red berries aromas, namely plum and cherry. Stressed acidity with present tannins but soft and well integrated.
